Biography

Professor Lindsey joined the Law School faculty in 1996. She teaches courses in taxation, estate planning, and real estate. Before joining the faculty, Professor Lindsey was a member of the law faculty of the University of the District of Columbia. Prior to that time, she served as a law clerk to the late Honorable Joel Gerber of the U.S. Tax Court and trial attorney with the Office of the Chief Counsel of the Internal Revenue Service. She also served as the in-house tax attorney for a Fortune 500 corporation. During law school she was an Article and Note Editor of the DePaul Law Review.

Professor Lindsey's primary area of scholarly interest is analyzing various issues of tax policy and the impact of tax laws on wealth disparity. Her articles have appeared in several law journals, including the Florida Tax Review, Nebraska Law Review and University of Michigan Journal of Law Reform. She is the co-author of a casebook entitled Taxation of Estates, Gifts and Trusts (West 25th ed. 2020) and the author of Real Estate Finance in a Nutshell (West 8th ed. 2022). Professor Lindsey is committed to service. She is the faculty advisor of the Estate Planning Society at the Law School and has served on the Real Property Drafting Committee of the National Conference of Bar Examiners since 2010.  She chaired the Admissions Committee for six years.  Professor Lindsey served as the associate dean for enrollment beginning in 2014. In June 2020, she began serving as the associate dean for enrollment and inclusion. My diversity and inclusion offices hours with law students will be held on Fridays 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm.
