On Friday, October 14, 2022, the National Sports Law Institute of Marquette University Law School will host its 33rd annual conference within Eckstein Hall, the home of the law school.  The conference will focus on a wide range of topics connected to the 50th anniversary of Title IX, including transgender participation, starting a women's sports program, the status of esports and motorsports under Title IX, college coaching issues, substantial proportionality and cutting opportunities, addressing allegations of sexual abuse, and current issues in international sports including the Court of Arbitration for Sport's review of female skater eligibility at the Beijing Olympics.  The conference will end with a celebration of 50 years of sports law in honor of National Sports Law Institute founder Prof. Martin Greenberg who is in the midst of his 50th year of teaching this fall.

Conference Registration

There are two options for registration for 

  1. Marquette University students, faculty and staff, alums, members of the National Sports Law Institute's Board of Advisors, members from the sponsoring organizations for this conference and Sports Law Program sponsors, and individuals from organizations that support Sports Law Certificate Program internships, can attend at no cost.  Individuals in this category may register by clicking the link from this sentence (option 1).
  2. All other individuals can attend for the low cost of $99.  Individuals in this category may register by clicking the link from this sentence (option 2).

Conference location, parking & tentative schedule

LOCATION: The conference will take place in the Lubar Center on the first floor of Eckstein Hall, 1215 W. Michigan Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, 53201.  (View a virtual tour here).

PARKING: Parking for all non-Marquette University Law School students can park in the law school's 11th street lot (P2), underneath the Law School, and entering from 11th street at no charge.

CLE CREDIT:

The National Sports Law Institute of Marquette University Law School will seek approval for has applied for up to 7.5 Wisconsin CLE credits for this event.  The Institute cannot guarantee the receipt of any CLE credit for any attorney for this event. Any decision on awarding credit comes only from the Wisconsin Board of Bar Examiners or the applicable CLE approval body in the state the individual attorney is seeking credit from.  Attendees seeking CLE credit from other states can receive additional information from the Institute that may assist with such applications, but the Institute will not complete out of state applications for any individual attorney.  Instead, the Institute will provide information to attorneys seeking CLE credit from other states after the conference.  Attendees interested in receiving CLE credit must remain for the entire event.  Certificates of attendance will not be provided to any attendee until after 4:30 pm on October 14th.
