Register to attend here.
Atty. Jill Kastner is the Supervising Attorney for Legal Action’s Milwaukee Housing Unit, which includes the Eviction Defense Project (EDP), Repairing Adverse Conditions for Tenants (ReAct) and subsidized housing group. EDP trains volunteer lawyers and students to provide in-court representation to prevent eviction and clear old eviction records. ReAct helps tenants facing serious unrepaired health and safety issues to force repairs and protect tenants against retaliation, and the subsidized housing group helps low-income seniors and disabled individuals maintain their housing benefits. Jill served a 3-year progressive term as President of the State Bar of Wisconsin from 2019 to 2022, and currently serves on the Board of the Wisconsin Law Foundation and the Wisconsin Justice Initiative Action. Jill, a proud mother of two, graduated UCLA School of Law Order of the Coif in 2000 and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 1997, summa cum laude.
Theresa Gabriel is a staff attorney in Legal Action of Wisconsin’s Milwaukee Housing Unit. In addition to her law degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, she holds both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from UW-Milwaukee. Theresa began her legal career with Cullen Weston Pines & Bach LLP (now Pines Bach LLP) where she represented clients in state and federal court, as well as in administrative proceedings. Theresa joined Legal Action of Wisconsin in 2020 where she serves and represents clients on a variety of housing matters.
