José Girón

Professor Girón joined the faculty of Marquette University Law School in 2026. His research focuses on how important legal and social outcomes are shaped by the way in which society designs criminal justice institutions, particularly the police. As a result, his research relies on a broad array of methodologies, tapping into organizational theory, law and economics, history, and comparative analysis. His scholarship has appeared in the University of Pennsylvania Law Review.

Prior to joining the faculty, Professor Girón was an associate in the Appellate & Supreme Court Practice Group of Covington & Burling in Washington, DC. Before his stint at the firm, Professor  Girón clerked for Judge Stephanos Bibas on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. 

Professor Girón holds a JD from Yale Law School, a BA in philosophy from the University of Southern California, and an AA from Miami Dade College.
