The Marquette Sports Law Program’s DEI Committee is committed to fostering an inclusive, connected, and representative sports law community; one that recognizes, values, and elevates people of every race, ethnicity, culture, color, creed, identity, and background. We understand that diversity, equity, and inclusion are sometimes misunderstood or used to divide. Our Committee embraces DEI as a principle that belongs to everyone: A commitment to ensuring that all people have meaningful opportunities to participate, be heard, build relationships, and thrive within the sports industry and legal profession. Through programming, discussion, mentorship, networking, and celebration of trailblazers, we seek to connect Marquette Sports Law Certificate candidates with professionals and perspectives that may not always be reached through traditional sports law events. We seek to highlight the achievements, experiences, and influence of culture shapers across athletics and the law. Sports have the power to unite people across borders and differences. Guided by that belief, our mission is to build bridges among individuals from various communities through a shared love of sports, athletics, and the law, while preparing future sports law professionals to lead with curiosity, respect, equity, and purpose.
