SUMMER SESSION IN INTERNATIONAL AND COMPARATIVE LAW IN GIESSEN, GERMANY

Study international law on the campus of the Justus Liebig University in Giessen, Germany. This four-week summer program brings together up to sixty law students from law schools all over the world. The 14th Annual Summer Session in International and Comparative Law will take place from Saturday July 16 through Saturday August 13, 2022.
Both U.S. and international students attend classes together and learn from each other. The program is open to law students attending any accredited law school in the United States (not just Marquette Law School and the University of Wisconsin Law School). In past years the program has attracted international students from Russia, Finland, Switzerland, India, Columbia, Brazil, South Africa, Ethiopia, Spain, Vietnam, Italy, the United Kingdom, the Dominican Republic, Korea, Australia, Indonesia, China, Japan, Turkey and Kazakhstan, among other countries. All class instruction is in English.
The faculty is also international, and instructors come from the U.S., Europe and Latin America. Each student selects two courses (each course worth 2.0 law school credit hours) out of a total of four courses in the curriculum. In addition to coursework, the curriculum includes field trips to tour governmental institutions and historical sites.
Classes are held during weekdays, over the four weeks of the program. On the weekends, mandatory field trips allow students to explore other European cities as well as the countryside around Giessen and nearby Frankfurt. Please note that travel restrictions related to the coronavirus pandemic may limit student travel outside of the program.
