Office of Public Service
The Office of Public Service (OPS) was created in 2005 under the leadership of Dean Joseph Kearney to build upon the legacy of public service performed by the late Dean Howard B. Eisenberg.

Howard B. Eisenberg Legacy
Howard B. Eisenberg joined the Marquette faculty as Dean and Professor in July, 1995 after an unusually varied legal career. A native of Chicago, Dean Eisenberg was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Northwestern University. He attended the University of Wisconsin Law School after which he clerked for Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Horace Wilkie. From 1972 until 1978 he served as the chief State Public Defender of the State of Wisconsin and wrote the current State Public Defender statute.
Jesuit Mission In Education
The service of faith through the promotion of justice is the mission that must be integrated as a priority into each Jesuit work.
Marquette University Law School in the Community
In addition to the core mission of educating students to be lawyers, Marquette Law School has a secondary mission of public service and pro bono work. Through the Lubar Center, the Law School also strives to be a crossroads for serious, evenhanded discussion of major public issues.
