Welcome to Student Affairs at Marquette University Law School
The Office of Student Affairs at the Law School provides academic and personal support to law students through counseling, programming, and other resources. Dean Thomson and Dean Fodor provide personal and academic counseling to students and can provide referrals to additional campus resources as well.
Bonnie M. Thomson
Associate Dean for Administration and Registrar
Dean Thomson oversees student registration and records and serves as the Law School liaison to the University Office of the Registrar. With the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, she coordinates delivery of the curriculum and course scheduling. In addition, Dean Thomson is responsible for the following areas of student life at the Law School:
- Administration and interpretation of the Law School Academic Regulations
- Advising students on graduation requirements and progress toward graduation
- Crisis intervention
- Disabled student services
- Referrals to Law School, University and community resources
- Special examinations
- Student registration processes and procedures
- Transfer student orientation
Anna Fodor
Assistant Dean of Students
Dean Fodor oversees student affairs at the Law School and works to support students' academic and professional development. She administers the Academic Success Program and meets with students to discuss a variety of academic and personal concerns. In addition, Dean Fodor is responsible for the following areas of student life and Law School programs and events:
- Individual academic counseling
- Advising on a number of academic and co-curricular concerns, including stress and time management
- Crisis intervention
- Law School liaison to Marquette's Title IX coordinator and deputies
- Referrals to Law School, University, and community resources
- New Student Orientation
- Ralph J. Huiras Law School Citizen Award selection process
Kathleen Pagel
Director of Bar Preparation and Adjunct Professor of Law
Professor Pagel coordinates the Law School’s Bar Success Program for students who plan to take an out-of-state bar examination after graduation. The Bar Success Program provides supplemental workshops, one-on-one counseling, mock exams, and other support to students studying for a bar examination. Professor Pagel also teaches Bar Exam Foundations 1 and Bar Exam Foundations 2 and provides counseling to students who are considering taking a bar exam.
Sarah DiStefano
Assistant Director of Student Affairs
Sarah oversees the Law School's student-run organizations, coordinates social media for the Office of Student Affairs, and is responsible for the following Law School programs and events:
- Student Organizations
- Law School Hooding and Commencement Ceremony
- Friends, Family, Parents, and Partners event
- Other Student Affairs programs and events including fitness classes and financial wellness week
- Law News and Events weekly announcements
Stephanie Danz
Assistant Registrar and Administrative Assistant to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs
In addition to providing support to Dean Thomson, Ms. Danz manages the student records for the law school, and is also responsible for the following areas of student service:
- Notary Services
- Bar admission assistance for Wisconsin and other State bars
- Letters of Good Standing
- Law school admission application copy
- Assistance with special examinations
- Unofficial law school transcript upload to Symplicity
Richard Archer
Student Affairs Office Associate
In addition to providing support to Dean Fodor and Dean Kearney, Rich manages the welcome lobby of the Student Affairs suite and assists students in the following areas:
- Student hiring, reauthorization, and payroll
- Law News and Events weekly announcements
- Assistance with front office forms
- Assistance with special examinations
