Angela F. Schultz
Assistant Dean for Public Service
Dean Schultz spearheads efforts to advance access to justice through the creation, implementation, and oversight of comprehensive pro bono programs. She co-developed the innovative "Lost in the Law" experiential learning activity, an immersive exercise designed to cultivate empathy and deepen students' understanding of systemic barriers to civil justice. As the advisor to the Marquette Law School Public Interest Law Society (PILS), Angela supports student leaders by mentoring them, assisting with strategic planning, and connecting them with public interest attorneys and summer fellowship opportunities. Angela also administers the Howard & Phyllis Eisenberg Loan Repayment Assistance Program (LRAP), which supports Marquette Law School graduates pursuing public interest careers, alleviating the financial burden associated with student loans.
Katie Mertz
Director of Pro Bono & Public Service
Director Mertz leads efforts to engage law students in pro bono work and advance access to justice in the Milwaukee community and beyond. She represents Marquette Law School on the Wisconsin Access to Justice Commission, a body established by the Wisconsin Supreme Court to enhance access to civil legal aid and improve the administration of justice. Katie is also a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin’s Legal Assistance Committee which develops and monitors State Bar programs to expand support for the delivery of civil legal services to low-income and disadvantaged Wisconsin residents. Katie creates and oversees all aspects of the MVLC CLE program.
Maggie Klatt

Maggie is a part time Program Assistant in the Office of Public Service at Marquette Law School, where she connects student and attorney volunteers with community members seeking legal aid. Maggie is dedicated to empowering others through access to resources and support, and she provides valuable leadership at the Marquette Volunteer Legal Clinics every week.
