Faculty Support

The Marquette University Eckstein Law Library provides a variety of resources and services to advance the research and teaching needs of Law School faculty and staff. Should you have any questions or suggestions, please contact Elana Olson (the Director of the Law Library).

Members of the Law School's full-time faculty work with a dedicated reference librarian designated as the faculty member's primary library liaison. The liaison program envisions a cooperative and collaborative professional relationship between faculty and librarians. Your liaison can provide research guidance to you or your research assistants, answer reference queries, compile short bibliographies, and provide instruction on various research resources and methodologies. Please keep in mind that lengthy research projects are best accomplished by research assistants. Liaisons aid research assistants with such projects through training and assistance in identifying research methods and sources, including discussions of optimal research strategies. Please contact your library liaison or the Law Library Director, Elana Olson (81696), with questions. Members of the Law School's adjunct faculty may consider Elana Olson as their primary contact.

All faculty and staff should also feel free to contact any member of the library team with questions or support. Visit the Circulation or Reference Desks in person during staffed library service hours, contact the Circulation Desk by phone at 288-7092, or contact the Reference Desk by phone at 288-3837 or e-mail.

Resources

Library Collection

The Law Library provides the resources necessary to support the curricular and scholarly activities of students and faculty of the Law School. It offers a comprehensive collection of primary legal materials from all jurisdictions in the United States, a collection of international and comparative legal materials, indexing tools, and an extensive array of secondary materials. Access to multidisciplinary resources is available both through the Law Library and by resources provided through Marquette's Raynor Memorial Libraries.

MARQCAT, the Marquette University Libraries Online Catalog, is available on the Law Library website. Users may restrict the collection to the Law Library or search all Marquette materials by selecting Entire Collection from the drop down menu. In addition to providing author, title, and subject access to the libraries' collections, the catalog permits users to view check-out records and renew material. Just click the "Log in" link in the upper right corner of the catalog and sign in with your Marqnet credentials (the username and password you use to sign into your email and the Law School website).

To access certain databases remotely (either away from your office or via wireless devices within Eckstein Hall), you may need to use your Marqnet credentials or the Virtual Private Network (VPN). Learn more about wireless access and VPN
